The TribalNet Conference & Tradeshow, scheduled from September 14-18 in Reno, will concentrate on how emerging technology in gaming is revolutionizing tribal casinos and operations in Indian Country.
Emerging Technology in Gaming Takes Center Stage
Now celebrating its 26th year, TribalNet presents nearly 40 sessions split across seven educational tracks. These tracks cover topics such as general, gaming, hospitality, tribal-government technology, cybersecurity, the AI revolution, leadership/executive insights, and tribal health information management.
This notable event attracts IT professionals, gaming and hospitality leaders, and healthcare teams from tribal governments and enterprises nationwide, alongside industry partners, for a week dedicated to education and networking opportunities.
According to Mike Day, the executive director of TribalHub, the organizer of the conference, “Attendees learn alongside peers, experts, and vendors and explore solutions and technologies employed by other tribes that could revolutionize their operations. The insights and networking opportunities at TribalNet are indispensable. One valuable connection or solution at the conference could significantly benefit a tribe monetarily.”
Anticipations of Significant Attendance Growth
The two-day tradeshow floor will feature 250 technology vendors currently collaborating with tribes and tribal enterprises. Over 700 attendees, amounting to approximately 1,500 people, will convene, Day noted. “We are witnessing a 20% growth from 2023 to 2024, with expectations to exceed this year. Registrations have already surpassed last year’s numbers.”
Sessions focused on artificial intelligence will delve into foundational aspects and organizational implementation of AI, an area where tribal enterprises are already excelling, Day shared.
“AI and cybersecurity remain significant,” Day emphasized. “Technology is integral to streamlining processes, enhancing customer knowledge, and enriching customer experiences, ultimately driving new revenue. Technology discussions are inevitable as it permeates every operational aspect. TribalNet serves as the ultimate convergence point for technology discussions.”
The Role of Leadership and Innovation
The leadership track encompasses general managers from casinos. Day stressed the importance of organizational leaders being acquainted with possible technological advancements. “Effective leaders today must possess a technological understanding or education on current trends. It plays a crucial role in organizational success. It’s essential to understand available solutions and industry dynamics.”
Regarding the gaming track, the conference will feature gaming system vendors discussing future prospects. Day mentioned that executives from Aristocrat, IGT, Light & Wonder, and CasinoTrac would deliver insights.
“We will conduct a session on emerging tech in gaming, discussing upcoming trends, preparation strategies, and technological investments in tribal gaming and hospitality for the forthcoming year.”

Additional gaming sessions will explore back-of-house technology efficiencies, cost reduction strategies, mobile applications, and success stories in creating outstanding digital customer experiences, as Day outlined. “Advisory boards composed of tribal nation leaders curated the agenda, deciding on session inclusion and speaker selection, ensuring expertise and real-world experience sharing.”
Day noted that while the gaming and hospitality tracks cater to the casino industry, other sessions impart valuable technology management insights applicable to casino resorts nationwide. These include gaining preparedness for AI and understanding its maximum potential. Moreover, cybersecurity remains a persistent threat to tribal gaming, Day remarked.
“Cybersecurity continues to cause significant concerns nationwide,” Day observed. “Although tribal entities are becoming more adept, so are malicious actors employing AI tools, enhancing their stealth. Prevention becomes increasingly challenging. Awareness and adaptation to current cyber trends are imperative.”
