Churchill Downs has acquired a majority stake in Casino Salem in New Hampshire. Located about a 30-minute drive from Boston and The Mall at Rockingham Park. The acquisition did not disclose a price and will be financed through the existing credit line of Churchill Downs.
Casino Salem Purchase Enhances Churchill Downs Reach in New Hampshire
Sal Lupoli and Joe Faro, the original owners of Casino Salem, will retain a portion of ownership, while Churchill Downs continues managing the Chasers Poker Room close-by in Salem. This strategic move places Churchill Downs closer to the vibrant Boston market.
With this purchase, 100 historical horse racing machines and 13 table games will be added to Churchill Downs’s offerings. Churchill Downs aims to further expand the casino’s gaming floor, rebrand it, and introduce diverse food and beverage options.

CEO William Carstanjen of Churchill Downs shared his enthusiasm, stating,

He hinted at future plans to create a sophisticated gaming and entertainment venue while supporting New Hampshire’s charitable organizations.
