The Player Protection stage at SBC Summit 2025 will run from September 16–18 in Lisbon, Portugal. An estimated 30,000 delegates will explore how industry ethics intersect with regulation, technology, and player behavior, gaining insights from seasoned professionals.

SBC Founder and CEO Rasmus Sojmark emphasized, “Player protection has shifted from a regulatory checkbox to a core business strategy. As global frameworks tighten and consumer expectations rise, successful operators will embed safety into their model.”

Player Protection at SBC Summit 2025: Regulation Focus

The Player Protection stage will cover three key themes:

  • September 16: Regulation. Discussions on the effects of regulation will examine if strict compliance inadvertently pushes players to unregulated markets. A critical look at who should bear responsibility in player disputes will also be explored: operators, regulators, or independent bodies.
  • September 17: Research. Practical solutions to player protection will be discussed, including AI’s role in player engagement and reasons unlicensed sites remain appealing. Global approaches to affordability and risk assessment will also be compared, seeking the best methods for player protection.
  • September 18: Tech. The latest tools and technologies for player safety will be highlighted. Sessions will include AI-powered player monitoring and the role of platforms in safeguarding players, regardless of cryptocurrency involvement.

Industry Leaders Explore Player Protection at SBC Summit 2025

Esteemed experts will lead discussions, including Maxbet CEO Savo Bakmaz; Dr. Maris Catania, LeoVegas Director of Player Sustainability; Entain’s Head of Regulatory Affairs David Foster; Richard Hayler, IBAS Managing Director; Dr. Alexandra Koerner from Grand Casino Baden AG; GamStop CMO Katie Reynolds-Jones; and Monica Shafaq, CEO of Gordon Moody.
