Paul Speirs-Hernandez Emphasizes Fun at Oklahoma Gaming Conference

The emphasis on fun in tribal gaming will be front and center when Paul Speirs-Hernandez delivers the keynote at the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association (OIGA) Conference and Trade Show. This event, a highlight in the online gambling landscape, explores the vibrant role of entertainment in gaming.

For the third year, Speirs-Hernandez will stress the importance of fun. He argues that while gaming must be taken seriously, enjoyment is crucial. “We’re part of the entertainment industry,” he explains, “and we need to act like it. If people find more fun elsewhere, we risk losing them.”

The 2025 OIGA Conference takes place in Oklahoma City, from July 14 to 16. Organizers anticipate nearly 3,000 participants. The event celebrates tribal gaming among Oklahoma’s 39 federally recognized tribes and over 100 casinos, an essential aspect of local culture.

Fun in Tribal Gaming

OIGA Chairman Matthew L. Morgan shares, “The Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association Conference and Trade Show is vital for tribal gaming and the gaming industry overall.” He emphasizes the event’s accessibility and ROI, drawing attendees from various segments like finance, marketing, and food and beverage.

Conference sessions will tackle critical issues, including human trafficking, anti-money laundering, and cybersecurity. Topics like sports betting analytics and the impact of AI on gaming will also be covered. Morgan stresses the importance of personal interactions at the event, despite the rise of virtual meeting technology.

Creating a Fun Experience

“Meeting in person allows for forging new relationships and sparking fresh ideas,” Morgan notes. Speirs-Hernandez agrees, adding that the entire event experience, from the casino to dining, should be fun.

Incorporating material from his Red Wagon Institute, Speirs-Hernandez promises a dynamic keynote, embedding leadership training to boost engagement and cultivate innovation. He insists on a holistic approach: “The hotel, the dining, everything needs to be fun.”
