Play Smart Consumer Hub Enhances Responsible Gambling

Play Smart Consumer Hub enhances responsible gambling for casino patrons. Anyone familiar with casinos has likely observed someone frustrated by a losing streak. This new initiative aims to tackle these negative experiences by promoting responsible gaming.

The American Gaming Association recently unveiled a new resource—the Play Smart Consumer Hub. Designed to make gambling both safe and enjoyable, the hub offers a variety of tools to encourage responsible wagering. It builds on AGA’s established Play Smart from the Start platform, well-known for its guidance on making smart, informed choices.

“The AGA is committed to making responsible gaming a seamless part of the player experience,” states AGA President and CEO Bill Miller. “It’s crucial for players to maintain control, and that starts with developing habits that suit them. The Play Smart Consumer Hub provides actionable tools to ensure gaming remains fun.”

Features of the Play Smart Consumer Hub

Designed to be user-friendly, the hub focuses on three key aspects: playing in the “Right State of Mind,” understanding gameplay through “Know the Game,” and setting budgets while taking breaks with “Act Intentionally.”

According to AGA Senior Director Dara Cohen, “This is the next evolution in responsible gaming messaging. We want players to continue seeing gaming as entertainment while also embracing safer practices.” The Play Smart Consumer Hub features a quiz to assess one’s “RG IQ”—or Responsible Gaming Intelligence Quotient, emphasizing positive gaming experiences.

“The quiz avoids negative language, encouraging players to keep returning to the site for tips and resources,” says Cecilia Scott, AGA’s Senior Director of Marketing and Industry Communications. “It’s about checking in continually, ensuring responsible gambling remains a habit.”

Operators: A Key Role in Spreading Responsible Gaming

Casino operators also play a pivotal role. Resources help staff identify the signs of problem gambling. At MGM National Harbor in Baltimore, a robust training session showcased the importance of recognizing and reacting to problematic gaming behavior.

“The idea behind ‘Play Smart from the Start’ isn’t to label behaviors as problematic,” Cohen explains. “Instead, we want players to utilize available tools for insightful gaming experiences.” For more on responsible gaming practices, visit Legal Sports Report for expert insights.
