Illinois Casinos Revenue Soars with New Openings

Illinois casinos revenue soared to $176.5 million in adjusted gross receipts in May, marking a 22.7% year-over-year increase. This growth was significantly aided by the debut of two new casinos, Wind Creek Illinois and Fairmount Park Casino & Racing. These expansions showcase the state’s booming gambling industry. Illinois Casinos Revenue: A Game Changer

Of the 17 casinos reporting to the Illinois Gaming Control Board, 13 experienced revenue surges compared to the previous year. The newly opened casinos contributed approximately 61% to the AGR difference from May 2024 to May 2025. Wind Creek Illinois, which opened in April, generated an impressive $18.6 million, ranking as the second-highest contributor in the state after Rivers Casino’s $45.5 million.

Fairmount Park Casino & Racing, also opening its doors in April, added an additional $1.2 million. The casino with the most significant AGR growth was Hard Rock Casino, witnessing a remarkable 101.5% increase year-over-year. Additionally, Golden Nugget Danville and Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort reported 31% and 25.6% growth, respectively.

Electronic Gaming Dominates Revenue Streams

Electronic gaming devices generated most of the AGR, totaling $132.9 million, an increase of 24% from the prior year. Table games also saw substantial growth, contributing $43.6 million and rising by 19.1%.
