Light & Wonder Game Installations Expand in Australia

Light & Wonder game installations see significant growth in Australia, a fact highlighted in a J.P. Morgan investor note by analyst Don Carducci. This is a prime moment for those interested in online casinos in Australia to stay informed.

Carducci noted that Light & Wonder’s Baron cabinet began with great success in New South Wales, alongside Thunder Empire, which also performed exceptionally. However, the company faces a key challenge with an upcoming ruling in Aristocrat Leisure’s intellectual property lawsuit, which could affect the future of these expansions. The court will decide on June 23 whether to extend the discovery process, and Carducci predicts a ruling in Aristocrat’s favor.

Baron Cabinet and Thunder Empire Drive Expansion

Despite looming legal issues, Carducci assures investors that installations of key games like Lightning Gongs continue to grow. Lightning Gongs is Light & Wonder’s primary growth catalyst for slot machines, with Shenlong Unleashed maintaining eight months of consecutive installation growth, comprising 6% of their installed base.

Huff N’ Even More Puff stands out as Light & Wonder’s top performer, running at 1.8 times the house average. Yet, challenges remain as installations of its predecessor, Huff N’ More Puff, declined for the fourth month, partially due to the withdrawal of Jewel of the Dragon.

Legal Challenges and Market Dominance

Lightning Gongs and Shenlong continue as key drivers despite competitor challenges and legal setbacks, including the Dragon Train litigation affecting installations in New South Wales and Queensland until May 2025. Light & Wonder remains the leading supplier in Queensland, although market share leaders like Aristocrat and Konami dominate in New South Wales.

Light & Wonder’s Thunder Empire averages 500 installations monthly, with approximately 3,000 machines now present across Queensland and New South Wales. Although market conditions favor Light & Wonder and Aristocrat as duopolies, concerns about tariff and litigation may dampen the potential market sentiment.
